13 kW Air-Cooled Standby Generator

GUARDIAN’s 13 kW is the most affordable automatic standby generator on the market that can start a 3-ton air conditioner with power to spare. For under $2,600 you can start and run your A/C, furnace and well pump plus maintain normal operation of lights, electronics and appliances in your living room, family room, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom.

As with all GUARDIAN generators, the 13 kW provides more power at a lower price than any generator in its class, and because it comes pre-packaged and pre-wired, it’s fast and easy to install, making the 13 kW model an even better value.

Features and Benefits

Breakthrough Design, Advanced Technology
GUARDIAN® and GUARDIAN QuietSource™ air-cooled generators offer the most wattage and greatest starting power in their class. The GUARDIAN QuietSource™ 16 kW can start a 5-ton and 3-ton A/C unit or two 4-ton units. The 13 kW can start a 4-ton and the 13 kW can start a 3-ton.

Whisper-Test™ (GUARDIAN QuietSource™ models only)
Reduces noise to a whisper by lowering engine speed during the generator’s weekly self-test. The Whisper-Test sound level is comparable to a car at idle and is 50% quieter (59 dBA) than the competition.

Pre-wired and Pre-packaged
GUARDIAN’s pre-packaged, pre-wired air-cooled systems make installation easy and, therefore, incredibly affordable for the do-it-yourselfer! Air-cooled models come with a pre-wired automatic transfer switch, outdoor connection box and composite mounting pad.

OHVI® Industrial Engine
Generac’s OHVI® (Overhead Valve Industrial) engines have been specifically designed for generator demands. These engines offer the finest lubrication technology available providing instantaneous disbursement of lubricant to all engine parts. They also feature an automotive spin-on oil filter for simplified routine maintenance.

Superior Electrical Protection
The air-cooled 10, 13 and 16 kW models feature an electronic governor, which maintains steady speed and eliminates voltage drop when loads are applied. This, as well as the automatic voltage regulator, provides a smooth rate of electricity, which is especially important for sensitive electronic devices such as computers.

Superior Paint
New textured, powder coat paint process provides consistent coverage and better bonding to seams and exposed edges providing durability and a long-lasting, tough finish.

Aluminum Enclosure (optional on GUARDIAN QuietSource™ models)
GUARDIAN QuietSource™ generators are available in a corrosion-resistant aluminum enclosure to better withstand the elements. This option is especially important for homes in southern and coastal communities.

Automatic Exerciser
An automatic seven (7) day test of your system allows you to verify that your generator is in peak operating condition at all times.

Automatic Transfer Switch
The automatic transfer switch automatically switches the source of power from the utility to the generator within seconds of a power outage. Because it’s automatic, you never have to flip a switch.

Convenient Fuel Supply
GUARDIAN and GUARDIAN QuietSource™ generators operate on natural gas or LP gas service. This provides you with unlimited run time during extended utility power failures.

Maintenance Friendly
Air-cooled models feature a hinged top and removable front panel. Liquid-cooled models feature large, removable doors. This provides easy and quick access for maintenance and servicing.

Automatic Safety Shutdowns
Automatic safety shutdowns protect the engine and generator in the event of low oil pressure, high temperature, overspeed and/or overcrank.

Protective Enclosure
The enclosure protects your generator from harmful weather and includes key locks for security. Sound-absorbing panels also reduce exterior noise levels.

Battery Charger
A built-in battery charger ensures that the battery remains at an optimum performance level.

Easy Installation
GUARDIAN’s air-cooled pre-packaged, pre-wired systems make installation the most affordable and easiest installation possible.

UL-Listed
For your safety, GUARDIAN standby generators are UL 2200 listed and all transfer switches are UL 1008 listed. This validates safety and kilowatt ratings.

EPA and CARB Emission Requirements
Generators up to 25kW must comply with EPA and CARB emissions requirements. All GUARDIAN generators up to 25 kW meet these requirements.
